Chelsea McGowan attended Cleveland State University and obtained a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling after obtaining her Bachelor's in psychology from Hiram College. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a Chemical Dependency Counseling Assistant Certificate. Chelsea has worked in the mental health field for approximately seven years, working as a mental health clinician or counselor throughout Cuyahoga and Lake counties. 

 

Chelsea has experience working with adults and adolescents who have presented with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, and depression. She also has experience in providing counseling to adults and adolescents who exhibit problem sexualized behaviors. Chelsea has experience with family counseling as well. She conducts individual, group and family services for clients in need of different types of counseling. 

 

Chelsea uses an eclectic approach to counseling. One of her main philosophies is to meet the client where they are at mentally and emotionally so as to create a strong therapeutic and meaningful relationship as well as provide the client with an environment in which they can express themselves comfortably. 

 

Chelsea believes that providing the client with a comfortable environment can assist them in recognizing life experiences that may be contributing to one's inability to function at their best potential. Chelsea's goal is to assist the client in becoming the best version of themselves through self exploration and guidance.
