My Story
My journey as a clinician began with me first as a client. I personally experienced the power of having a person in the room who can listen with empathy and without judgment to help me become the best version of myself. I was able to process complex emotions and experiences so that I no longer felt stuck but was able to move forward as a healthy individual. I am still reaping benefits from that season and my goal as a licensed professional counselor is to do the same for others.
I am originally from South Florida where I experienced many cultures growing up. I earned my bachelors in East Asian Studies with a focus on China from Princeton University, after which I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. My life experience with many cultures allows me to take a culturally competent approach to my work – to create a space where all of who you are is welcome in the journey. As a Christian, my faith is important to me and gives me eyes to see the dignity and value of every human being. Through my seminary training, I have also been equipped to help people incorporate their Christian faith in the counseling process if they so choose.
I have experience working with clients who struggle with substance abuse, problem sexualized behaviors, and transitioning from incarceration to reintegration into society. I also have experience helping spouses evaluate and understand their personality traits to explore how it can affect their marriage dynamics.
Overall, I want the people who sit across from me to feel heard, valued and empowered to live their best lives possible.
If I cannot help, I want to work with you to find someone who can. You are not alone.
